Human

Hey, I am Anna. Introductions are awkward and can sometimes be scary. But here I am. I can tell you I am many different things. A mother, therapist, wife, daughter, friend …. But above all I am just a human – something we all have in common.

By trade I am currently a LCSW (licensed clinical social worker). In my other life I used to also work in media/marketing for 10 years and always dreamt of being an actress. That didn’t work out and I followed my heart into the journey of exploring and getting to know others. I was always fascinated with understanding other people’s experiences and connecting on a deep emotional level.

My focus is working with women, Complex Trauma (C-PTSD), and mental illness through a relational lens.

I see this work as a journey that we embark on together. We both have a lot to learn and teach each other and through this mutual relationship great healing can occur – the willingness to have both of us be impacted and changed. My clients are my biggest teachers and I am blessed beyond measure to witness their stories. We can wear many different hats in therapy. It could be to tackle a life challenging situation, manage difficult emotions and relationships, grieve, cry, laugh, and cope with mental illness and substance abuse. Above all, my role is to be a guide and container as you navigate through life. Some challenges take longer than others to work through – and some need an anchor for life.

Otherwise, I am pretty much an open book! There is no blank screen here. What you see is what you get. I can laugh with you and at myself – call myself a “hot mess” on most days. I will also cry with you – perils of being a natural empath.

On the days when I take breaks from doing therapy I really enjoy food and cooking. I bet you will never guess my favorite food! I love writing, meditating, and just hanging out with an awesome group of friends. I’ve been married for a long time and have three rowdy boys (plus Oliver the golden doodle) that keep me on my toes. I love Janis Joplin and Marilyn Monroe, looking dreamily into the sparkling stars of the night sky, and discovering the contours of a person’s soul through their gaze. I really love to laugh and not take shit too seriously – life’s too short!

I do have clinical experience that includes inpatient psychiatric hospitals, psych screening and emergency rooms, higher level of care IOP/PHP + group work, as well as private practice and one on one therapy. I have also volunteered with domestic violence and sexual assault agencies for 10 years.

I am extremely passionate about mental health advocacy and hold every person that sits across from me in the therapy room with deep loving gratitude for allowing me to be part of their life.

As we start the therapy work together I can tell you that – unfortunately, I have no guarantees. Except one. The only guarantee I can make is that you won’t have to do any of it alone.

P.S. I have a bit of a confession. I worked on creating this website myself and to be honest, I am terrible with technology. It took me forever to figure it out all out. For the life of me I still can’t get the fonts and colors to match on all the pages, the text to align, etc. I refused to publish the website until it was “perfect.” I soon realized that it would never be. So I left it as it is. I still fear the judgment of what many will think – but I realize just like all of us - it will always be a bit messy, un-aligned, and always a work in progress.
